FAQ: executive personal branding videos
01
Executive personal branding video: the short answer
Boards, search partners, investors and future colleagues look you up before they meet you. What they find shapes the first conversation, and often decides whether there is a second one. A short, well-produced film lets them see how you think, lead and speak, which no CV or LinkedIn profile can show.
Used well, an executive brand film shortens the trust gap, makes you memorable among equally qualified candidates and keeps working for you in every introduction. Used badly, it looks like self-promotion. The difference lies in the story, the proof and the way it is shared.
- Best moments: a job transition, a board candidacy, a fundraising, a new C-level role, a sector move.
- Best format: around five minutes, story-led, professionally produced, hosted privately and shared on your terms.
02
Your reputation is checked before you are interviewed
Executive appointments rarely start with a job ad. They start with a chair asking a search partner for names, a CEO asking a trusted peer, an investor asking around their portfolio. Long before you are interviewed, someone is forming a view of you from fragments: a title, a company name, a profile picture, a sentence from a former colleague.
A personal brand is your answer to one question: what are you known for? Not your list of responsibilities, but the two or three things people should remember about you, and the evidence behind them. Executives who answer it clearly are easier to recommend, easier to place on a shortlist and easier to trust. Those who do not are often remembered only by their last title, which is a problem the moment they want to change sector, function or country.
This is not about becoming an influencer. Most of the executives we work with have no interest in posting every day. They want a precise, credible presence in front of a small number of people who matter, and an asset they can share when it counts.
03
Not a corporate video, not a social clip: a short documentary about you
A corporate video speaks for the company and disappears when you leave. A social clip chases attention for a few seconds. An executive brand film tells your professional story in your own voice: where you come from, the decisions that defined you, what you have built, the values behind your choices and where you want to go next.
It is scripted with you after in-depth interviews, filmed by a professional crew in places that matter to your story, and edited to cinema standards: colour, sound, music, rhythm. It usually sits on a personal page with portraits, a concise tagline that says what you are known for, and a direct way to reach you.

Four reasons film outperforms text for senior profiles
- Presence. Senior roles are about judgment, composure and the ability to carry a room. Voice, tone and body language show those qualities in minutes; bullet points never will.
- Memory. After a day of reading profiles, a search committee remembers faces and stories, not job titles. A film makes you the candidate people talk about afterwards.
- Context. A career change, a gap or a sector move looks like a question mark on a CV. On film, you explain the why in your own words, and the question mark becomes a reason to call you.
- Leverage. It works while you do not: in your signature, in every forwarded introduction, in the email a search partner sends to a chair late at night.
05
The structure of a strong executive story
The best executive films follow a simple arc. They do not try to say everything; they make three or four things unforgettable.
1. Origin. Where you come from and what shaped how you work: a first job, a mentor, a culture, a hard lesson. This is what makes you human and different from every other candidate with a similar CV.
2. Defining moments. Two or three turning points told with specifics: the turnaround of a loss-making unit, a plant you opened, a crisis you managed, a team you built from scratch. What was at stake, what you decided, what changed.
3. Proof. Outcomes and, ideally, the voice of others. Insights from your 360° profile or short testimonials turn claims into evidence and remove any sense of self-promotion.
4. What comes next. The role, sector or mission you are moving towards, stated with conviction. This is what tells the viewer why they should call you now.
06
Where your film works hardest
- Your email signature and personal page: every message you send becomes an invitation to know you better.
- Introductions to search partners, chairs and investors: a link they can forward without having to describe you themselves.
- Board and non-executive candidacies: where character and judgment matter more than operational detail.
- Speaking and thought leadership: conference organisers and media want to see how you speak before they invite you.
- Onboarding into a new role: your teams know who you are and what you stand for before day one.
07
Five mistakes that cost credibility
- Claims without proof. "Strategic, people-oriented leader" means nothing without an example or an outcome.
- Brochure language. If a sentence could describe any executive, it describes none. Your film should sound like you.
- Confidential details. Never disclose employer figures, deals or information you are not cleared to share. Discretion is part of what makes you credible.
- Uncontrolled distribution. Host privately, publish trailers only, and keep the full film for the audience it was made for.
- Low production value. A shaky webcam recording signals the opposite of what a senior leader wants to say. Quality is part of the message.

Frequently asked questions
Will a personal branding video look self-promotional? Not if it is story-led and backed by proof. The goal is clarity, not applause, and the voice of others does much of the work.
Can I make one while I am still in my current role? Yes. Films are hosted privately and shared only with the people you choose. Many executives prepare their film months before they move.
How much does it cost and how long does it take? Our flagship page and five-minute film starts at €3,500; an elevator pitch starts at €2,000. Production takes from one week to a few months, depending on the depth of the story work.
